About

This is a personal blog, of no great consequence.

I am a middle-aged British man, living in North Devon, England, with my wife, young adult son, and two cats.

I have had a varied work career. I was a senior manager in a large commercial radio broadcaster, working on strategy, regulatory and public affairs, policy and compliance. I took a long career break to live in the country and be a full-time househusband and dad until divorce forced me back into work. After a stint back in broadcasting policy, I made a career change into the charity sector, currently working for a refugee charity.

All views are entirely my own, as much as I think they should also be yours.

I mostly write about politics and current affairs. My politics are largely left-wing, but with no strong party affinity. I am (or try to be) a feminist, an environmentalist, and a supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights, and of refugee and migrant rights.

My other interests include history, philosophy, religion (even though I am an atheist), science (especially physics), food, analogue things (especially writing tools, especially fountain pens), baseball (but no other sport), and cats.

I imagine I might enjoy living in Uruguay. I have never visit Uruguay. I have never visited South America. I don’t speak any Spanish.

My CV is here. I am currently open to offers of work. I am currently not able to re-locate away from North Devon.
